History

The Well Ministry of Rescue was established November 1, 1993.  We minister to men who have a substance abuse problem and/or living skills problems.  The only requirement is the desire to change their lives, and agreeing to abstain from the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.

The Well Ministry of Rescue’s Discipleship Training Program requires a 12-month commitment to our Christian based residential facility.  We are designed primarily for men with substance abuse problems who have made a decision to change their lives.  We live in a structured family setting and everyone is assigned daily chores that promote continual maintenance of the facility. We have Guidance Directors whose primary function is to promote a spiritual and harmonious environment for all disciples.

Residents are required to participate in five 12-step meetings a week, various Bible studies and all other ministry functions. Our program focuses on anger / stress management, family reconciliation, relapse prevention and other aspects of recovery, as well as spiritual principles of enrichment. Our Vocational Training Centers are located on the North Esplanade, where disciples participate in our program for work training and employment skills.

Our intention is to provide each disciple with the basic elements needed to live a full and productive life.  It is our goal and mission to be involved in Christ’s ministry by providing an environment to the wounded and hurting that will enable each participant to start growing to their fullest potential: spiritually, physically, and emotionally - THE WHOLE PERSON.

We are one of the few organizations in Northern California that does not require a fee.  We receive no government funding.  We are supported by donations from churches, private persons, area businesses and the Vocational Training.

Discipleship Training:

A Realistic Approach To Recovery

At The Well Ministry of Rescue, we minister primarily to men who have had a substance abuse or alcohol issue in their past.  “The Well” is a Christian based discipleship training program founded on the Word of God.  It is our belief that Jesus Christ alone can set us free from a life of bondage.  By adopting an “each one teach one” outlook, we allow the redeemed of the Lord to say so.  Our Bible studies and groups are led primarily by people who have overcome addictions in their own lives, by allowing God to change their lives through the power of His Spirit.  Now they simply desire to share the Good News with others in obedience to the Lord.

Vocational Training

While in The Well Ministry of Rescue’s 12-month Discipleship Training Program, men have the awesome opportunity to learn a trade in our 5 month Vocational Training Program.  Upon completion they will be able to use this training when eligible for outside employment

This serves three purposes:

        1. Builds self esteem, and a sense of accomplishment in the area of work ethics

        (Phil. 2:29 / Prov. 13:19).

        2. The opportunity to provide for themselves and their families upon graduation from the program

        (Prov. 14:23 / 2 Thess. 3:10).

        3. Helps to provide the necessary income the Ministry needs to continue serving others.

        (Acts 2:44 - 45 / Phil. 4:19)

The areas available for Vocational Training are:

History

The Well Ministry of Rescue established The Well Alternative on May 17, 2006. It was our desire to come along side The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and assist them in the transition of parolees into society. Parolees that complete a Substance Abuse Program (SAP) during their incarceration are eligible to receive SASCA funding and placement in a Licensed and Certified Residential Treatment Program upon release from prison.

Mission Statement

The Well Alternative focuses on the followings three main areas of treatment:

1.  Dedication to helping parolees continue turning their lives around and direct

      them in a positive manner.

2. Providing parolees with education, individual and group counseling to promote

a lasting lifestyle change, free from the addiction of alcohol, tobacco and drugs.

3. Provide a Vocational Training Program designed to establish various life skills that enable a successful transition into the work force.

Program Description

1.  All applicants shall be screened prior to admittance to determine if “The Well Alternative’s” treatment methods and availabilities meet the specific needs of  the client.
